Architecture

One cloud drive does not mean one privacy boundary.

Photon Transfer moves files. Photon Vault keeps them. Within your private cloud drive, create the hard privacy boundaries for the people, projects, and data sets that should stay separate.

One-time sends do not become permanent storage by default

Relay moves files through an active TLS session when both sides are ready. Client-side encryption is on by default for single files and required for multi-file sends.

External uploaders stay outside

Vault Intake gives the sender an upload surface, not a Vault browser or workspace invitation.

Vaults isolate what matters

Each client-side encrypted Vault is a hard privacy boundary for personal files, work, financial records, projects, clients, teams, or family data.

Sync follows the boundary

Map each local folder or data set to the Vault where it belongs instead of replicating one giant directory everywhere.

External collaboration

Exchange files with outsiders without opening the workspace.

Share a Live or Cloud transfer link without requiring the recipient to create an account. Give clients a Vault Intake without browse access. Invite teammates without automatically opening every Vault.

  • Recipients do not need a PhotonFile account for Live or Cloud downloads.
  • Vault Intake links provide upload-only access rather than team or Vault access.
  • Team membership and Vault access remain separate.
  • Collaborators see only what has intentionally been granted.

Technical trust

Security follows the workflow.

Temporary transfers, persistent storage, external intake, and desktop sync should not all inherit the same retention and access model.

Photon Transfer

Live Relay forwards files through memory. Cloud transfer temporarily retains encrypted files for later pickup. Client-side encryption is on by default for Live Relay and required for Cloud and multi-file sends.

Photon Vault

A client-side encrypted private cloud drive for your complete file collection, divided into isolated Vaults. Paid Photon Vault has no per-file upload size restriction, so you can upload files of any size.
