Account region guide

Move your PhotonFile account to another region

Account region moves let you change the home region, or data center, that owns your PhotonFile account and related workspace data.

Home region and Current DC

Your home region is the region that owns your account. In the dashboard, the Region panel also shows Current DC, which is the data center you are currently using. If those differ, PhotonFile may ask you to sign in through your home region for some account or Vault actions.

Request a region move

  1. 1. Open your dashboard profile. Go to the Region section in your profile drawer.
  2. 2. Review Current DC and Home vertical. These labels show where you are connected and where your account is owned.
  3. 3. Pick a target region. Choose the region shown under Move to.
  4. 4. Complete step-up verification. Accounts with MFA use an authenticator code or recovery code. Accounts without MFA use the current password.
  5. 5. Queue the move. The dashboard shows status, requested time, updated time, progress, and detail text while the move runs.

Before you move

  • Verify your email address.
  • Check the next time you can move.
  • Finish important uploads or transfers first.
  • Keep your recovery codes available if you use MFA.

During the move

  • Some account writes may be temporarily paused.
  • The dashboard may continue polling progress.
  • Owned teams move with the account owner.
  • Existing team members may keep their own home regions.

After completion

When the move completes, PhotonFile shows a Region move complete message and sends you to sign in again through the new home region. After signing in, use the dashboard normally from the new region.

Limit

The dashboard shows the next time you can request another move.

Security check

Step-up verification helps prevent someone with an open session from moving your account without proving control.

Team impact

Teams owned by the moving account follow the owner's region move.
